Greek Coffee, Acropolis, & a Flea Market

What a day in Athens! We have thoroughly enjoyed exploring this unique city despite the poor, stray dogs and cats and graffiti practically everywhere. We started the day with a delicious breakfast at Harvest Coffee & Wine; I absolutely love trying the popular cafés in every city I pass through. The eggs and coffee were amazing!

After eating and people watching at breakfast, we made our way to the Acropolis. It’s a scene and feeling I wish I could capture forever. So much history and beauty involved! I highly recommend this sight for the top of your bucket list. It has been on mine ever since I first learned about Greek mythology in elementary school!

We spent over an hour soaking the views in high above Athens. Who knew how big the city was!

We did some shopping at the stores and flea market in the center and got a kick out of all the people and trinkets to look at.

We were hungry of course too, so we got Greek coffee and a snack. I couldn’t pass up a corn on the cob!

Greek coffee has a texture similar to hot chocolate, and the grinds sit in the bottom. It’s rich, sweet, and delicious until you reach the grinds!

The food and clothes are cheap in Athens we have discovered. I splurged on handmade leather sandals, a pair of mom jeans (they’re in in Europe), and a shirt. Vacation is for treating yourself! We ate dinner at one of the other hip college places close to our apartment. It was nice sitting outside on plush couches next to a fire! My mom and I chatted while Dad sketched; we were surrounded by college students smoking their cigarettes and sipping on their coffees. It was very relaxing.

Tomorrow we are hoping to get on a ferry to a surrounding island. Unfortunately, the boat schedule is a bit tricky during the off season, but we are going to see what we can do! The weather was clearly gorgeous today with the sun and warmth. Feels like spring compared to Munich! xo ~ e.

Looks like wonderful weather compared to London as well! We did Greece last year and absolutely loved it. If you don’t get an island cruise, try a road trip to the Peloponnese and some ancient sites like Mycenae.

Aw bummer! Hope London gets some sun and warmth soon. Spring is coming shortly! Thanks so much for the tip. Still in the midst of our plans while we are in this amazing country!

We loved Greece and Athens was great, but we really like Nafplion and the surrounding area and it’s attractions. It’s almost never sunny in London, but I am off to Barcelona in a couple days so I’ll get a few days of sun there 😉

I love your blog! Looks like you are getting a ton of traveling done! Did you tink about checking out Vienna? I feel like Austria is very underraded. But that’s an Austiran speaking, so what do I know? 😉

Thank you so much for the compliment! Vienna is high on my list for upcoming travels. Do you suggest a certain time to go and things to see/do? I was briefly in Austria last week but only on a train to Germany!
