Comfort Food

Saturday, November 5, 2016

It’s Saturday night, and it was filled with American comfort food! Tonight I cooked Shepherd’s Pie for myself, Colleen, Megan, Sarah, Louis, and Alex. It was delicious (if I may say so myself)! Shepherd’s Pie is one of my all time favorites. I made it here with mashed potatoes, ground beef, peas, carrots, and corn. I prepared everything on our gas stove before letting it bake in the oven for half an hour until the mashed potatoes were golden brown. All the ingredients cost 12 euro for a huge dish of it! We finished it all no problem then discussed the upcoming election. We are all ready for Tuesday’s results! Can’t say there were any Trump fans in the room. It was very fun hosting dinner in our apartment; it felt like actually having friends over for a night!

We were still hungry after our large servings of Shepherd’s Pie, so we went to the American diner in town for milkshakes! Another taste of home. We got a big kick out of the waitresses on roller skates and the decor. It was very cute. We were surprised by how many Italians were there.

As the cold weather is upon us, I wish you a winter with delicious and piping hot comfort food! xo ~e.
